A ministerial meeting by the Global Coalition Against Daesh opened on Thursday at the US State Department Headquarters in Washington, with the participation of Morocco.

The Kingdom is represented at this conference by Fouad Yazough, Ambassador General Director of Bilateral Relations at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccans Residing Abroad, as well as Ambassador of the Kingdom to the United States Lalla Joumala Alaoui, and Director of Global Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Ismail Chekkouri.

This meeting is attended by representatives of thirty states and international organizations.

In an address on this occasion, US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo stressed the importance of continuing the fight against terrorism, assuring that his country would continue to lead the coalition in this "essential effort for our security".

"We must continue the fight against Daesh and we, the United States, will continue to lead the coalition, and the world, in this essential effort for our security," said Pompeo at the two-week event, following the death of leader of the group "Islamic State" Abu Bakr Al-Baghdadi.
