Morocco ranked among the most innovative countries in Africa, following south Africa and Mauritius Island, according to the Global Innovation Index 2017 issued on Thursday.
According to this index, developed by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), the Cornell University and INSEAD (The Business School for the World), Morocco is among the countries that kept a sustained performance over the past 7 years, said a statement by the Moroccan office for intellectual and commercial property (OMPIC).
Ranking 72nd out of 127 evaluated economies, Morocco maintained its 2016 positioning, said the statement, noting that the Kingdom improved its numbers for the fifth year in a row with 32.7 in 2017 against 28.73 in 2011, posting a positive trend in terms of innovation products: 68th in 2017 versus 102nd in 2011.
