Govt. Chief Chairs 3rd MCA-Morocco Strategic Orientation Council

Chief of government Saâd Eddine El Othmani chaired, Wednesday in Rabat, the 3rd session of the Strategic Orientation Council of the Millennium Challenge Account (MCA)-Morocco.

At the event's opening, El Othmani underlined that this meeting is an occasion to evaluate the progress of the 2nd compact of cooperation inked by Morocco and the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) as well as phases completed to carry out this important project.

Quoted by a statement by the head of government's office, El Othmani thanked MCC and the US government for their qualitative support for Morocco, hailing the special level of cooperation and partnership between Rabat and Washington.

Recalling that the session is being held six months after the enforcement of the second compact, El Othmani lauded the success of the call for projects to benefit from financial support provided for vocational training centres as part of the "Sharaka" fund to which 100 million dollars were allocated.

He added that 20 projects will be selected to set up, extend or re-build vocational training centres under a partnership between public and private sectors.

The head of government called on all parties to strive doubly hard to complete the new appropriation procedure to implement it, at first, on 46,000 hectares in the Gharb region before generalizing it.

He also recalled the setting up of a committee to monitor the program's activities, reiterating the need for the committee to hold regular meetings to ensure a better coordination with all the parties concerned and overcome obstacles.
