Head of Government Highlights Progress Made in Transfer of Central Competences to Regions
Head of government Saad Dine El Otmani highlighted, on Thursday in Rabat, the progress made in the implementation of the project of transferring central competences to the regions, a large-scale project which constitutes one of the major reforms that will be carried out gradually over the next two years.
In his opening speech at the Government Council, El Otmani underscored the progress made in the implementation of this project, assuring that in his capacity as Chair of the Steering Committee, he closely follows all steps to ensure the success of this strategic project for Morocco.
In this regard, the Head of Government thanked all the government departments that submitted plans for the transfer of central competences to the regions, noting that the Monitoring Committee that convened this week approved most of them, with the exception of five plans which will be revised according to the presented observations.
El Otmani called on the five remaining departments to accelerate the inclusion and adoption of observations to help with the completion of this project, especially since there is a timetable for the implementation of this qualitative leap that will strengthen the process of advanced regionalization in Morocco and promote a qualitative change in the administration's work and its participation in the economic development.
The implementation of the Charter of Administrative devolution will promote investment at the regional level, improve the quality of administrative services and strengthen the process of proximity for citizens and businesses, he added.
