Head of Government Meets in Marrakesh with Paraguay's FM

Head of government Saad Dine El Otmani met, on Monday in Marrakesh, with Paraguay's foreign minister Luis Alberto Castiglioni, on the sidelines of the Intergovernmental Conference on Migration, which was marked by the adoption of the Global Compact for Safe, Orderly and Regular Migration.

During the meeting, the two officials reaffirmed the excellent relations between Morocco and Paraguay, which have a common platform on the political level that would enable Rabat and Asuncion to further develop their cultural and economic relations.

El Otmani told the press, at the end of the meeting, that he held talks with several officials taking part in this conference, who were unanimous in expressing their great esteem for the royal message sent to the participants in this international conference, and welcoming its content as well as Morocco's guidelines on migration.

Morocco is still calling for a safe and human migration, he said, adding that the formal adoption of the Global Compact for Migration puts the Kingdom and the city of Marrakesh at the forefront of the international scene.

For his part, Castiglioni said that Paraguay remains a "friend and ally" of the Kingdom of Morocco.

Castiglioni reiterated the support of his country to the Moroccan autonomy initiative for the Moroccan Sahara, recalling the support declaration adopted by the Paraguayan Parliament.

The Paraguayan official also said he will soon visit Morocco along with a large delegation of businessmen in order to further strengthen bilateral relations.
