Members Of US Congress Laud Reforms Carried Out In Morocco

Members of the US congress lauded, Tuesday in Rabat, reforms carried out by Morocco while underlining steps taken by the Kingdom to uphold the rule of law and democracy.

During a meeting with foreign minister Salaheddine Mezouar, the members of the delegation, led by Timothy Michael Kaine, senator of the state of Virginia and chairman of Senate Foreign Relations Subcommittee on Near Eastern and South and Central Asian Affairs, seized this occasion to assure Morocco of the US congress support for reforms under way in the Kingdom.

 The Members of the delegation have also expressed interest in strengthening relations with Morocco. 

 For his part, Mezouar welcomed the excellent strategic partnership which marks the relations of friendship and cooperation between Morocco and the United States, which were given impetus thanks to the summit meeting between HM King Mohammed VI and President Barack Obama, during the visit of the Sovereign to the United States in November 2013. 

 The minister also reviewed the progress made by the Kingdom to bolster the democratic process in accordance with the vision of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, as well as initiatives taken to improve the business climate and investment.

 

 The meeting was attended by minister delegate for foreign affairs Mbarka Bouaida.

Speaker Of Lower House Meets With US MPs Delegation

Speaker of the house of representatives (lower house) Rachid Talbi Alami met, on Tuesday in Rabat, with a delegation from the US congress on means and ways to strengthen bilateral ties, mainly economically and politically.

 During this meeting, Talbi Alami surveyed the new prerogatives of the Moroccan parliament as laid down in the constitution and highlighted the role of the law-making body in implementing constitutional provisions.

 Morocco benefited from successful international experiences seeking to broaden the scope of public liberties and foster the principles of governance and sustainable development, he said.

 He went on saying that Morocco is Africa's gateway and the USA could take advantage of this strategic location to boost their exports towards African  markets which have over one billion consumers.

 

The 14-strong American delegation voiced its support for UN efforts meant to solve the conflict over the Sahara.

Head Of Government Meets With US MPs Delegation

Head of government Abdelilah Benkirane met, on Monday in Rabat, with a delegation of US MPs led by Virginia's senator Timothy Michael Kaine.

During this meeting, the two sides surveyed bilateral relations which were given new momentum on the back of the summit meeting between HM King Mohammed VI and President Barack Obama during the sovereign's visit to the USA in Nov. 2013.

 This meeting was an occasion to underscore the importance of cooperation between the United States and Morocco in several areas, mainly economically, politically and at the security level, said the US senator in a statement to MAP after the talks which were attended by state minister Abdellah Baha and USA ambassador to Morocco Dwight L. Bush Sr.

 Benkirane highlighted the important reforms made ??by the Kingdom in all areas under the leadership of HM King Mohammed VI, underlining the initiatives taken by the government in order to improve the business climate and encourage investment. 

 The Head of Government also lauded the programs carried out ??in Morocco as part of the partnership with the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC).
