Head of Govt. Meets in Rabat with Japanese Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs

Head of government, Saad Eddine El Othmani, held talks, Tuesday in Rabat, with Japanese vice-minister for Foreign Affairs, Shunsuke Takei, who is on a working visit to Morocco.

During the meeting, the two sides expressed their satisfaction with the excellent political relations between Morocco and Japan, as well as with the fruitful partnership that has been lasted for more than 60 years between the two countries in different fields, said a statement by the head of government's department, adding that Takei is leading a joint delegation, comprising several Japanese government officials and businessmen representing 16 large Japanese companies.

On this occasion, the Japanese official expressed the special interest enjoyed by Morocco within the Japanese business community, the statement said, noting that the Japanese delegation chose Morocco as a destination given the steps undertaken by the country in terms of economic and social development, as well as its strong support for sustainable development and green economy.

Japanese businessmen, members of the joint delegation, welcomed the important reforms implemented by Morocco at all levels, which had a positive impact on the business climate, said the same source, noting that "the 50 Japanese companies are established in the Kingdom contribute to the creation of more than 40,000 jobs in various economic sectors, including fisheries, phosphates and the automotive industry."

For his part, El Othmani highlighted the structural reforms undertaken by Morocco for many years and which his government intends to pursue and accelerate, noting that the Kingdom has been able to improve its ranking in the business index of the World Bank by 22 positions between 2012 and 2016, with the prospect of being in the top 50 of this ranking by 2021.
