French Geopolitician: HM King Mohammed VI Continues Process of Building Modern Nation While Respecting its Identity and Traditions
HM King Mohammed VI continues the process of building a modern nation while respecting its identity and traditions, said French geopolitician Charles Saint-Prot in Marrakech.
"In all respects, the reign of HM King Mohammed VI is marked by the willingness to make progress," he said at a symposium organized by the Moroccan magazine of local administration and development (REMALD) on the theme "1999-2019: Twenty years of political, legal and institutional reforms under the reign of HM King Mohammed VI".
"In Morocco, the King embodies both tradition and progress, and this explains the reformism of King Mohammed VI," said Saint-Prot, also director general of the Strategic Studies Observatory of Paris and author of the book "Mohammed VI or the visionary Monarchy ".
Speaking under the theme "the reformism of HM King Mohammed VI", this eminent French expert noted that the ambition of the Sovereign of Morocco is to consolidate a development that benefits everyone, especially young people and women: a balanced and equitable development that generates income and employment, contributes to creating a climate of stability and social peace, and promotes the integration of citizens into professional and social life.
HM King Mohammed VI is also pursuing "the building of a State and an administration that are efficient, decentralized and free of bureaucracy", he added.
He recalled that the reform momentum has been initiated since 1999, date of HM the King's accession to the Throne, initiating a process of global reforms in accordance with Moroccan specificities.
"Precisely, the revision of the Constitution in 2011 is part of this reform drive of the Sovereign, because HM the King is convinced that the Monarchy should carry out reforms," he pointed out, noting that the Moroccan Monarchy is essentially "reformist".
Organized in collaboration with the Hanns Seidel Foundation, this two-day meeting is part of the commemoration of the 20th anniversary of the enthronement of HM King Mohammed VI.
The symposium is attended by members of the government, chairmen of constitutional bodies and national and foreign researchers, who will analyze and objectively assess the main reforms undertaken by the Kingdom over the past two decades in the various fields, particularly legal, political and institutional ones, under the leadership of HM the King.
