The House of Advisors (upper house) closed, Tuesday, the April session of the 2016-2017 legislative year, in accordance with article 65 of the constitution and article 6 of the rules of procedure of the House.

Speaking on this occasion, speaker of the upper house, Hakim Benchamach, said that the outcome of this session was important in all respects, noting that interaction with the contents of royal speeches requires the development of a roadmap to continue efforts in order to finalize the strategic projects, eradicate deficits and promote good parliamentary governance.

He added that at this session, the House adopted 46 bills, 34 of which deal with the approval of international conventions and 12 bills on various socio-economic aspects, mainly the budget bill for 2017, noting that a significant number of these conventions concern African countries, in accordance with the high guidelines drawn up by HM the King after the admission of Morocco to the African Union (AU) and visits paid by the Sovereign to several countries on the continent.

The other texts approved concern the socio-economic and human rights aspects, Benchamach said, adding that other laws related to certain social categories have also been adopted.
