Housing Minister Discusses in NY Upcoming Opening of UN-Habitat Office in Morocco
Secretary of state for housing Fatna El Khiel met, in New York, with executive director of UN Habitat Maimunah Mohd Sharif on the upcoming opening in Morocco of an office by this UN agency.
The meeting, held on the sidelines of the Ministerial Segment of the High Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development 2018 (July 16-18), was an occasion to discuss preparations for the opening of the UN-Habitat Morocco office, El Khiel told MAP on the occasion.
"We have already committed ourselves as a ministry to pay for the costs of setting up the office and we are in the process of finalizing the terms of reference of the Director of UN-Habitat Morocco," she said, adding that call for applications will be held soon.
The talks between El Khiel and the UN-Habitat Executive Director touched also on the preparations for the African Ministerial Forum on Housing and Urban Development (AMFHUD), scheduled next October in Dakar, and which will be co-organized by Morocco and Senegal.
The United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN–Habitat) is the United Nations agency for human settlements and sustainable urban development.
