Indonesia Reiterates Support for UN Efforts for Durable Political Solution to Moroccan Sahara issue

Within the framework of the 2nd Session of the Morocco-Indonesia Joint Committee, held on Thursday and Friday in Jakarta, Indonesia reiterated its strong support for the efforts by the UN Secretary-General and his Special Envoy to reach a durable political solution to the issue of the Moroccan Sahara.

During this meeting chaired jointly by Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs Mounia Boucetta and Indonesia's Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdurrahman Mohammad Fachir, the emphasis was laid on the development of bilateral political, economic and cultural relations, as well as technical cooperation.

The two sides also shared viewpoints on a number of issues of common interest, both regionally and internationally, and expressed their firm commitment to moving ahead in fostering bilateral relations.

To this end, Morocco proposed to examine the possibilities of developing a tripartite cooperation by taking advantage of the strategic position of the Kingdom and Indonesia on their respective continents.

Boucetta also congratulated the Republic of Indonesia on its election as a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council, noting that the Kingdom of Morocco is willing to share its experience and expertise in relation to the body.
