Interior Ministry : Morocco Dismantles ISIS-linked Terrorist Cell Operating in Tetouan and Agadir
The Central Bureau of Judiciary Investigations (BCIJ), under the General Directorate for National Territory Surveillance, dismantled on Thursday an ISIS-linked terrorist cell composed of three individuals aged 25-26, who were operating in the cities of Tetouan and Agadir, said the Interior ministry.
The searches led to the seizure of knives, a military uniform, manuscripts promoting extremist ideology and inciting violence, in addition to computer equipment, the ministry pointed out in a statement.
According to the first elements of the investigation, the suspects, who swore allegiance to the so-called "Emir" of this terrorist organization, were planning to carry out terrorist operations in the Kingdom through explosive devices and toxic products.
This operation confirms the fact that terrorist threats are still prevalent against the backdrop of the determination of the supporters of ISIS's extremist thinking to commit terrorist acts in the various regions of the world in accordance with the agenda of this organization, according to the same source.
The suspects will be brought to justice upon the completion of the investigation which is led under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor's office, the ministry concluded.
