A release of the interior ministry says the meeting, held as Morocco marked this week the 16th throne day was held in the presence of minister of justice and freedoms, the general manager of the department of studies and documentation, the general manager of the national security and territory surveillance department, top officers from the Gendarmerie, civil protection and auxiliary services and several officials from the interior ministry.

The meeting first looked into the upcoming elections, in light of the guidelines issued by HM King Mohammed VI on October 14. After various preparations were surveyed, the meeting highlighted the interior department's resolve to take, in coordination with the ministry of justice and freedoms, all the needed measures to stand up to the commitments related to legal texts, organizational measures, logistical and material arrangements pertaining to the funding of various stages of the polls, with the participation of various political parties, trade unions and professional organizations.

The meeting stressed the need to improve and modernize the polls in order to deepen their credibility and integrity. The central administration was invited to observe total neutrality, in keeping with Morocco's democratic choice.

Participants in the meeting also insisted on the need for firm judiciary actions against those found guilty of staining the transparency of elections, said the ministry in a release, noting that the same firmness will be applied to authors of rumors, lies, accusations against the local authorities to challenge their neutrality and sound supervision of the polls.

The meeting also surveyed HM the King's instructions in the throne day's speech (July 30, 2015) as a reference for measures and actions to be taken for the success of various large-scale projects.

On Thursday, HM the King urged the Government to develop an integrated plan of action, built on partnerships between all government agencies and the institutions concerned, with a view to providing funding for the projects and drawing up a precise timetable for their implementation.

"The projects can be integrated into the new vision of the National Initiative for Human Development and appended to the forthcoming programs of the regional and local councils, which now have significant resources and extensive powers," said the Sovereign.

Other social issues were reviewed, including the situation of peddlers as a program, to be integrated in the National Initiative for Human Development, will be launched shortly in various Moroccan regions.

Regarding the security situation, the meeting focused on the continuation of efforts by local authorities and various security departments to face terrorist threats and fight crime, in order to guarantee peace and security and protect citizens' property as well as the need to carry on efforts, increase vigilance and upgrade the performance of administrative authorities and security services.
