Moroccan Defence Official Meets UN Regional Humanitarian Coordinator For Sahel
Upon royal instructions, Morocco’s minister delegate for of National Defence Administration Abdeltif Loudyi met Monday in Rabat with the UN Under-Secretary General and Regional Humanitarian Coordinator for the Sahel Robert Piper.
During this meeting, the two officials discussed the situation in the Sahel and its impact on peace, security and stability in the region, a statement of the National Defence Administration said.
This situation is considered as a source of concern given the development of multifaceted threats, including illegal immigration, illicit trafficking and the rise of terrorism, the same source added, underlining the urgent and necessary need for further commitment and mobilization for the implementation of an integrated strategy to restore peace and security and boost economic and human development in the region.
The UN official hailed, on this occasion, Morocco’s pioneering role in the region under the leadership of HM King Mohammed VI through the implementation of a proactive policy for integrated and inclusive development, the statement said, adding that this policy includes, at once, the cultural, religious, economic and security dimensions as part of the royal initiative in the area of south-south cooperation.
