Morocco, an AfDB Strategic Partner
Morocco is a strategic partner of the African Development Bank (AfDB), said, Sunday in Tan-Tan, the Bank's country manager for Morocco, Leila Mokaddem.
Speaking at the opening of "the Green Investment Conference", held on the sidelines of the 14th edition of the Tan-Tan Moussem, Mokaddem stressed that the AfDB has been supporting economic development projects in Morocco for 50 years, including the Green Morocco Plan and the rural electrification project.
Regarding local economic development, particularly in the province of Tan-Tan (south-western Morocco), she said that the AfDB, through entrepreneurship and financing programs, aims to support sustainable development, noting the existence of several areas of interest in southern Morocco, notably ecotourism which is an important sector for stimulating development in the region.
Organized under the patronage of HM King Mohammed VI, the Tan-Tan Moussem is an annual gathering of nomadic peoples of the Sahara bringing together more than thirty tribes of southern Morocco and other nomadic peoples of northwest Africa.
Unesco has classified the Moussem as Intangible Heritage of Humanity.
