Intangible Capital: Morocco Should Continue On Path Of Institutional Reforms, WB Economist

Morocco, which boasts intangible wealth waiting to be enhanced, should resolutely continue its institutional reforms, said Jean-Pierre Chauffour, Lead Country Economist for Morocco at the World Bank.

The development and enhancement of its intangible wealth will enable the Kingdom to promote its economic emergence, he told on Monday daily paper "l'Economiste".

These institutional reforms should focus on three key sectors namely: the promotion of a competitive and inclusive growth notably for youth and women, the building of a green and resilient future, and the reinforcement of governance and institutions to offer better services for all citizens.

For countries with average income as Morocco, the share of intangible capital in national wealth amounts to 50-70%. An increase of this intangible capital should be mirrored in Morocco by a more productive investment in the human capital, which means education and training.
