Morocco Busts IS-Linked Terror Cell

Morocco's security services dismantled, on Thursday in the eastern cities of Oujda and Tendrara, a ten-member terror cell related to the so-called Islamic State (IS).

Investigations showed that the suspects, including an Algerian national living illegally in Morocco, have monitored a large shopping center in Oujda in order to commit a robbery using knives, hoods and sophisticated communication devices, to raise funds for terrorist projects in the Kingdom, in accordance with ISIS agenda, the Interior Ministry pointed out in a statement.

Investigations revealed that the members of this terrorist cell, who held secret meetings in a "safe house" in Oujda, assaulted citizens and dispossessed them of their property, which is a serious threat and a breach to security and stability of the kingdom, the statement said.

The suspects will be brought before justice after the completion of investigations conducted under the competent public prosecutor’s office.
