Morocco, China Discuss Means to Enhance Parliamentary Relations

Chairman of the Justice, Legislation and Human Rights Committee at the House of Representatives, Adil El Bayta, held, Monday in Rabat, talks with vice-chairman of the Legal Affairs Committee of the Chinese National Assembly, Zhang Haiyang

According to a statement by the House of Representatives, the two parties notably tackled the strengthening of parliamentary cooperation between Morocco and China, adding that Haiyang called for the setting up of a parliamentary forum between the two countries, meant to promote bilateral ties and discuss issues of common interest.

The two officials also hailed links between Rabat and Beijing, which have been revitalized, especially after the visit of HM King Mohammed VI to China in May 2017, which led to the signing of several cooperation agreements and the launch of the strategic partnership.

He added that Morocco and China share a number of universal values, notably moderation and the pacific resolution of conflicts, commending the positive stance of Beijing regarding the kingdom's territorial integrity.

For his part, Haiyang said that his visit aims at promoting cooperation relations between the two countries and exchanging experience and expertise between the two legislative institutions.
