Morocco, Epitome of Growth for US Investors Looking Towards Africa

Morocco, which has become a geopolitical hub in Africa, is the epitome of growth for US investors seeking investment opportunities on the continent, and it is the only African country to have concluded a free trade agreement (FTA) with the United States, said, Thursday in Washington, secretary of state to the minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Mounia Boucetta.
"Morocco, the only African country bound by a free trade agreement with the United States, is increasingly emerging as a major geopolitical hub and a platform for investment and trade in Africa," Boucetta told MAP on the sidelines of the 5th session of the joint committee in charge of following up the FTA, noting that the role of the Kingdom as an economic driving force in the continent makes it a reliable partner for the United States.

In this regard, the minister recalled that Morocco has recently become the first African investor in West Africa and the second largest African investor in the whole continent thanks to the numerous official visits of HM King Mohammed VI to several African countries and the signing of nearly a thousand cooperation agreements in several areas.

She also noted that Morocco's accession to the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), which represents a rapidly growing market of 360 million people, will enable the country to play a key role in triangular trade.
