Morocco Marks Independence Day, Occasion To Commemorate Triumph Of People And Throne’s Will

The Moroccan people is marking on Tuesday the 59th anniversary of Independence of the Kingdom, a landmark event in Morocco’s contemporary history.

This celebration is an opportunity to proudly celebrate the triumph of the will of the people and the Throne who carried on an uninterrupted struggle to break the yoke of colonialism and lay the foundations of an independent, modern and unified Morocco.

A unique moment of communion for the whole nation, the 59th anniversary of the independence of Morocco is an occasion to remember the brave battle of a unified people under the leadership of their King, whose trigger event was the Revolution of the King and the People on August 20 1953.

It is also an opportunity for the new generations to appreciate the sacrifices made by their ancestors in their struggle for freedom.

Furthermore, the Independence Day is an opportune movement to pay tribute to the Father of the Nation late King Mohammed V, whose unshakeable faith, unfailing resolve and exemplary dedication to the cause of his people ushered the Kingdom into a new era of freedom and dignity.

After achieving its independence, the Moroccan people then took every effort to the nation-building process, the aim being to build a free and strong Morocco under the leadership of the father of the Nation and then his successor late King Hassan II who established the country’s roadmap towards democracy, political pluralism and economic liberalism.

And today, HM King Mohammed VI, a worthy successor to late King Hassan II and late King Mohammed V,  carried on the momentum by launching far-reaching projects of social and economic development paving the way for a modern Morocco with a competitive and diversified economy and strong values of democracy and citizenship.

As Morocco celebrates this glorious anniversary rich in symbols and values, the Moroccan people never misses an opportunity to express its unwavering mobilization and total adherence to the great epics initiated to defend the integrity of the Kingdom’s territory.
