The new US ambassador to Morocco David Fischer said that the Kingdom of Morocco is America's oldest ally, stressing that it is a privilege to represent the United States of America in Morocco.

Fischer, who was recently appointed ambassador of the United States in Rabat, said, in a poster on the pavilion "Dar America" ​​at the 26th edition of the International Book Fair in Casablanca (SIEL), that "Morocco is one of the United States' oldest allies and our Treaty of Peace and Friendship, signed in 1787 with Morocco, is the longest unbroken treaty relationship in the US history."

He added that "I am originally from Detroit, Michigan, and I am honored to call now Morocco home as I serve as the US ambassador" to the country.

In another poster on the same ​​pavilion, which recounts the history of the United States and Morocco, it was written that "Morocco will remain an indispensable partner of the United States in securing a safer and more prosperous future for all our citizens."

"We will continue to build opportunities to the next generation, cultivate a relationship of deep mutual respect and forge new bonds connecting our economies, our continents and our peoples", it said.

For her part, the cultural attaché to "Dar America" ​​in Casablanca Laura MacArthur said that the pavilion of the American Cultural Center "Dar America" ​​at SIEL chose for this edition the theme of "America's Window", in view to celebrate the friendship between Morocco and the United States.

The 26th edition of SIEL, organized by the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports, in collaboration with the Moroccan Agency for Investment and Export Development and the Office of Fairs and Exhibitions of Casablanca, attracted 703 exhibitors who are presenting more than 100,000 works.
