Morocco Participates in 12th Consultative Meeting of UNSC & AU Peace and Security Council
Morocco took part, Thursday in New York, in the twelfth annual joint consultative meeting of the United Nations Security Council and the African Union Peace and Security Council.
The meeting focused on two main issues, namely the situation in the Democratic Republic of the Congo and in South Sudan.
Morocco was represented at this meeting by its permanent representative to the African Union and the Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA), ambassador Mohamed Arrouchi, in addition to the political advisor to the Permanent Mission of the Kingdom of Morocco in Addis Ababa, Adil El Badmoussi.
In a joint communiqué issued after the meeting, the members of the United Nations Security Council and the African Union Peace and Security Council reaffirmed the primary responsibility of the Security Council for the maintenance of international peace and security in accordance with the Charter of the United Nations and the mandate of the Peace and Security Council with regard to the promotion of peace, security and stability in Africa as provided for in the Protocol Relating to the Establishment of the Peace and Security Council of the African Union.
