Morocco-Spain Economic Forum Opens in Rabat

The Morocco-Spain Economic Forum, organized by Moroccan Employers Association CGEM and Spanish counterpart CEOE, on the occasion of the visit by King Felipe VI of Spain to the Kingdom, opened on Thursday in Rabat under the theme "Morocco-Spain: strategic partners for shared growth".

This important meeting, which is held in partnership with the Morocco-Spain Economic Council (CEMAES), is composed of two plenary sessions, one on new growth-enhancing jobs and the second on industrial integration.

This meeting is attended by top officials as well as managers of leading public and private companies in both countries.

The event will focus on business and investment opportunities offered by Morocco and Spain and on means to promote exchanges and partnerships between the economic actors of the two countries.

On this occasion, CGEM president Salaheddine Mezouar said that the economic relations between Morocco and Spain are continuously developing, making Spain the top partner of the Kingdom for five years and the second in terms of investment.

Relations between the two neighboring countries are strong and are based on mutual respect and shared trust, he said, adding that economic operators and the business community are satisfied with the results achieved so far and look to the future with a lot of hope and enthusiasm.

For his part, President of Spanish CEOE Antonio Garamendi said that several Spanish companies are operating in Moroccan key sectors (car industry, technology, infrastructure, finance, energy, transportation ...), noting that these economic entities are driven by the sincere desire to invest in the Kingdom and to share with their Moroccan counterparts a common project that takes advantage of the opportunities offered by the markets of Europe and Latin America.

"Morocco is opening a gateway to Africa for Spanish and European companies," he said, calling on employers' organizations in both countries to support businesses and help them make the most of this joint project.
