In pursuance of high instructions of HM King Mohammed VI, public authorities continue their efforts to provide help and assistance to cold wave stricken populations, particularly in mountainous areas.

Since November 22, 2016, 50,000 people have benefited from various medical consultations, provided by two military hospitals located in Anefgou, Midelt province, and Ouaouizaght, Azilal province, and a field hospital of the Ministry of Health in Lakbab, Khénifra province, the Interior Ministry said in a statement, adding that 50,000 other people have benefited from medical campaigns of different specialties.

The Mohammed V Foundation for Solidarity and public authorities have also distributed food kits, blankets and clothing items to 25,000 people, the ministry said, noting that more than 1,500 homeless people have been hosted in reception centers.

Following the heavy snowfall in some areas, resulting in the interruption of road traffic, public authorities have mobilized all human and logistical resources and deployed 880 snow removal vehicles to restore traffic, the ministry pointed out.

In the same way, 10 helicopters of the Royal Gendarmerie and 4 others of the Ministry of Health were mobilized, in addition to 1,200 ambulances, in order to carry out emergency medical evacuations.
