Morocco's trade with Sub-Saharan Africa has grown at an average annual rate of 9.1% over the period 2008-2016, according to the Moroccan Office of Exchange.

Sub-Saharan Africa is made up of four main regions: namely West Africa, East Africa, Central Africa and Southern Africa.

These commercial exchanges resulted in a trade balance surplus of 11.9 billion dirhams in 2016 instead of 1.3 billion dirhams in 2008, noted the Office in a study on "Morocco, Sub-Saharan Africa trade for the period 2008-2016."

According to the same source, the geographical distribution of Morocco's trade with Sub-Saharan Africa shows West Africa as Morocco's main trading partner in the region, with a share of 58.2% in 2016, followed by East Africa, Central Africa and Southern Africa.

In 2015, investments in Sub-Saharan Africa have more than doubled (3 billion dirhams against 1.2 billion dirhams in 2014), representing 40% of total foreign direct investments and 97.2% of direct investments in Africa.
