Morocco Succeeded in Establishing Sustainable Energy Model Under HM the King's Leadership, Minister

Morocco has succeeded, under the leadership of HM King Mohammed VI, in establishing a sustainable energy model based on clean energy and energy efficiency, said, on Tuesday in Geneva, Minister of Energy, Mining and sustainable development Aziz Rebbah.

Speaking at the 19th European Energy Transition Conference, the Minister invited Swiss operators to seize, through joint ventures with Moroccan companies, the huge opportunities offered by this model, which are evaluated at over $ 40 billion, including $ 30 billion for renewable energy.

On the occasion of this event, a memorandum of understanding and cooperation in the field of energy was signed by Rebbah and the Swiss Minister for Environment, Transport and Energy. This agreement falls within the framework of strengthening relations of friendship and cooperation between Morocco and Switzerland and the strategic priority that the two countries give to the fight against climate change.

In this context, the Minister noted that this memorandum of understanding provides a favourable framework for sharing information and expertise, setting up innovative technical solutions, strengthening capacity-building in the fields of renewable energy and energy efficiency, as well as developing triangular cooperation actions for African countries.

The Minister held a meeting with François Longchamp, President of the Council of the Republic and Canton of Geneva, who welcomed the participation of the Kingdom, a gateway to Africa, in the European Conference in view of its role as an important stakeholder in energy transition regionally and internationally.

Rebbah said Morocco is working hard to diversify its partners and strengthen its ties with Europe, notably Switzerland, which has a noteworthy experience in the transition to a clean energy model. He also stressed that the presence of the Kingdom aims among other things to present its real opportunities in the energy field.
