Morocco, Thailand Eager to Boost Bilateral Ties
Morocco and Thailand agreed, on Monday in Rabat, to promote bilateral relations in various fields.
This came in a meeting between Speaker of the House of Representatives Habib El Malki, and President of the Foreign Affairs Committee at the National Assembly of Thailand Bilaibhan Sampatisiri.
During the talks, attended by Youssef Gharbi, president of the Committee on Foreign Affairs, National Defense, Islamic Affairs and Moroccan expatriates, El Malki praised the excellent relations of friendship between Morocco and Thailand, stressing the importance of the visit of the Thai parliamentary delegation to further promote bilateral ties.
He also welcomed Thailand's position on the issue of the Moroccan Sahara which is a pivotal issue for Moroccans, expressing the wish to promote relations between the two countries considering the existence of cooperation opportunities in the areas of trade, tourism, culture and education.
Sampatisiri supported the request by the Moroccan Parliament to join AIPA as an observer, saying that the two States have very close relations. She also welcomed the granting by Morocco of several scholarships to Thai students to enable them pursue their studies in the Kingdom.
She also extended an invitation to El Malki, on behalf of the speaker of the National Assembly, to conduct a working visit to Thailand.
