Morocco’s Ambassador to the US Holds Talks with President of National Press Club

Morocco’s ambassador to the United States, Lalla Joumala Alaoui, held talks on Tuesday in Washington, D.C., with President of the National Press Club (NPC) Andrea Snyder Edney, who was elected last week at the head of this prestigious institution founded in 1908.

The meeting, which took place at the National Press Building, which houses NPC headquarters and offices of dozens of US and foreign media, including those of the North American Pole of Morocco’s news agency MAP, was an opportunity to discuss the means to strengthen relations between the National Press Club, one of the most influential media organizations in the world, and the Kingdom of Morocco.

In this context, Lalla Joumala Alaoui affirmed that she will spare no effort to boost a fruitful cooperation between the two sides, expressing the willingness of the Embassy to be a privileged interlocutor with members of the National Press Club and its leadership in order to promote the Kingdom among US opinion makers.

She also recalled the reforms implemented in Morocco under the leadership of HM the King, particularly those touching on institutional sectors, socio-economic issues, women's empowerment and the religious field as part of a forward-looking and proactive approach that makes Morocco a haven of peace and stability in the region.

President of the National Press Club said she was delighted to receive Morocco’s ambassador to the US, expressing her willingness to push for the consolidation of relations between the NPC and Morocco through training, organization of conferences on Morocco and exchange of visits.

The meeting was attended by former NPC President Thomas Burr and NPC Executive Director William McCarren.

Lalla Joumala Alaoui then visited MAP’s offices at the National Press Building, where explanations were provided to her on the work undertaken by journalists to report news related to the Morocco-US relations, international institutions based in the US, including the IMF, the World Bank and the United Nations, in addition to issues touching on the Moroccan community in America.
