No Moroccans among New Zealand Terror Attack Victims, Ambassador Says
No Moroccan national is among the victims of the terrorist attack on two mosques in Christchurch, Southern New Zealand, Morocco's ambassador to Australia and New Zealand, Karim Medrek, assured.
"We went to all the hospitals in the city of Christchurch where we found out that no Moroccan national was among the victims of this terror attack," the diplomat told MAP.
Following the terror attacks in Christchurch, the embassy has set up a crisis unit and contacted members of the Moroccan community living in the city, who said that they were safe, he added.
The embassy, which sent a councilor to Christchurch, is in permanent contact with local authorities to monitor the situation of Moroccan nationals living in the city, he added.
The staggering death toll from the terror attacks has climbed to 50, New Zealand police said Sunday.
