OIC Welcomes Morocco's Return to African Union

Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), Youssef bin Ahmed Al-Outhaymine, welcomed, here Tuesday, the return of Morocco to the African Union (AU).

   This is an important step that will contribute to supporting African continent not only at the political level but also economically, Al-Outhaymine told the press following his meeting with Ambassador Mohamed Ali Lazrak, Secretary-General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation.

   The official also praised the positions of HM King Mohammed VI which have contributed to the return of Morocco to the pan-African grouping.

   In this regard, Al-Outhaymine highlighted the Sovereign's tours to several African countries and the signing of several agreements, noting that the royal visits illustrate the interest of HM King Mohammed VI in the African continent.

   The OIC Secretary General, on an official visit to Morocco, also expressed the OIC esteem in Morocco as a founder, influential and acting state thanks to its positive positions, and in particular to HM the King, Chairman of the Al-Quds Committee, for His efforts to preserve the Islamic identity of the Holy City and the Al Aqsa Mosque.
