Palestinian Cultural Week to be Held Early 2018 in Morocco, Minister Says

A Palestinian Cultural Week will be held in Morocco in early 2018 to celebrate the artistic talents of Palestinian detainees, minister of Culture and Communication, Mohamed Laaraj, said Thursday in Rabat.

The announcement was made during talks between Laaraj and a Palestinian delegation led by Prisoners Affairs minister Issa Qaraqe.

The event will include a fair that will showcase Palestinian prisoners’ literary and artistic works, Laaraj pointed out, adding that the Palestinian Cultural Week could take place in Oujda, as part of the activities that will be organized in the city after it was named Capital of Arab Culture for 2018 by the Standing Committee on Arab culture.

The Moroccan minister reiterated on this occasion the Kingdom’s solidarity with the brotherly Palestinian people and their just cause.

For his part, Qaraqe underlined the importance of highlighting the experience of Palestinian prisoners who are suffering all forms of tyranny in Israeli jails.

Through their literary and artistic works, Palestinian detainees seek to raise consciousness on their humanitarian cause, he added.

Moreover, Qarage expressed his thanks and appreciation to Morocco, its institutions and political parties for supporting the Palestinian cause, Al Quds Acharif and the resistance of the Palestinian people to the Israeli occupation.

Qaraqe is visiting Morocco at the head of a large Palestinian delegation made up of political leaders and former detainees in Israeli jails.
