Partnership with Morocco is of Particular Importance to India
Bilateral partnership with Morocco is of particular importance to India, Indian Minister of Foreign Affairs Sushma Swaraj stressed here on Monday.
Speaking at a press briefing following talks with Morocco’s Foreign Minister Nasser Bourita, Ms. Swaraj, who carries a message from Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to HM King Mohammed VI, said that "India is committed to raising bilateral relations with Morocco to higher levels".
Ms. Swaraj also welcomed the strategic partnership between Morocco and India, particularly in the areas of information technology and trade, while underlining the importance for her country of signing a Memorandum of Understanding with Morocco on counter-terrorism.
The agreement simplifying business visa issuance, signed the same day between the two countries, will hopefully increase visits of Moroccan and Indian businessmen, she pointed out.
The “fruitful” talks with Mr. Bourita provided the opportunity to discuss the current relations between the two countries, she said, adding that the quality of bilateral relations reflects the enormous opportunities that exist between Morocco and India in order to develop bilateral trade.
The Indian top-diplomat also said that these talks focused on the ways to strengthen cooperation between the two countries, including in the political and economic areas.
Following the talks, Bourita and Swaraj signed four memoranda of understanding in the areas of counterterrorism, housing, youth and the simplification of business visa issuance.
