Rabat-Madrid Close Counterterrorism Cooperation Hailed By GCTF In Marrakech
The Rabat-Madrid close counterterrorism cooperation was lauded by the Global Counterterrorism Forum (GCTF) which holds, Monday and Tuesday in Marrakech, the inaugural meeting of its Working Group on foreign terrorist fighters (FTF), co-chaired by Morocco and the Netherlands.
The meeting brings together senior officials and experts from forty countries and several international, regional and sub-regional organizations.
According to Francisco de Miguel, deputy director general in charge of terrorism international affairs at the Spanish foreign ministry, the close cooperation between Rabat and Madrid was cited as an exemplary model of counterterrorism collaboration during the GCTF behind closed doors meeting.
The sharing of information is continuous between the two countries' security services, Miguel, who leads his country's delegation, told EFE news agency.
The working group is dedicated to addressing the FTF challenge, with a particular focus on the implementation of the GCTF's FTF good practices and helping to coordinate the growing number of efforts at the national, regional and international levels to stem the flow of FTFs.
