This program, launched in 2017 for 49.94 billion dirhams, aims to open up rural and mountainous areas, and generalize access to basic services in 29,000 villages located in 1272 communities, and enhance their economic potential, said Laftit, who presented the budget of the Ministry before the Committee on the Interior, Territorial Authorities, Housing and City Policy at the House of Representatives.
According to the Minister, the emphasis is laid on support for the communities concerned in the implementation of development programs through urban upgrading programs carried out as part of action plans spanning several years.
The ministry reviewed and approved 11 partnership agreements worth 1.056 billion dirhams, including a contribution from this department of 260 million dirhams for the benefit of a number of territorial communities, he said.

Since the beginning of this program, he went on to say, 70 projects were undertaken while another 291 are under way. The number of projects in the launch phase are 345, he said.
This meeting, which was attended by Minister Delegate for the Interior Noureddine Boutayeb, was also an opportunity to review achievements made during the year 2019, particularly in terms of generalizing the supply of drinking water to the rural world.
The minister also underlined that the emergency program adopted during the summer of 2019 helped supply nearly two million people with water. Until last September, some 181 million dirhams were mobilized for its financing.
As part of the rural electrification program, the official said that more than 50 applications for financial support for supply projects were examined. In this regard, a budget of 28 million dirhams was allocated, including a contribution from the ministry exceeding two billion dirhams since the launch of this program.
