Sahara Issue: South Sudan Expresses Support for Morocco's Territorial Integrity, Lauds Autonomy Plan
South Sudan’s minister of Foreign Affairs, Nhial Deng Nhial, expressed, Friday in Rabat, his country’s support for Morocco’s territorial integrity, and lauded the autonomy plan proposed by the kingdom to find a political solution for the regional dispute over the Moroccan Sahara.
In a joint communiqué signed after his talks with Moroccan minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Nasser Bourita, Nhial reiterated the full support of his country to the role played by the United Nations as an exclusive and consensual framework to reach a lasting solution to this regional dispute.
South Sudan’s FM also took this opportunity to clarify the official position of his country on the so-called "rasd", stressing in this regard that the Republic of South Sudan has never had any kind of diplomatic ties and is not maintaining any relation with it, or any other Sahrawi entity.
