Sahara: Morocco Lauds Stance of Colombia in Support of Autonomy Plan, Head of Govt.
Head of government Saad Dine El Otmani voiced, on Friday in Rabat, the esteem and respect of the Kingdom of Morocco for the position of the Government of the Republic of Colombia in support of the territorial integrity of the Kingdom and the autonomy plan presented by Morocco.
El Otmani was speaking in a meeting with Colombian Foreign Minister Carlos Holmes Trujillo Garcia, who is on a working visit to Morocco within the framework of strengthening relations of friendship and cooperation between the two countries .
According to a statement from the Head of government's Department, the two officials welcomed the friendly relations between Morocco and Colombia, especially as the two countries celebrate the 40th anniversary of their diplomatic relations.
In this context, they stressed the need to capitalize on this opportunity to explore new horizons of cooperation, mainly in the economic field, adding that trade between the two countries does not match the real potential offered by the two economies.
According to the two officials, businessmen from both countries should meet more to make the most of promising partnership opportunities, and cultural and sporting events should be held to strengthen the bonds of friendship between the two peoples and serve as a platform to give a new dynamic to cooperation in different areas.
During this meeting, which was attended by the Colombian Ambassador in Rabat, the two sides underlined the shared viewpoints on a number of international issues of common interest such as the fight against terrorism and extremism as well as against climate change.
