Senegal Reiterates Firm and Unwavering Support for Moroccan Identity of Sahara

Senegal reiterated, on Monday in Rabat, its firm and unwavering support for the Moroccan identity of the Sahara, deeming the autonomy plan presented by the Kingdom as the only solution to this regional dispute.

This position was reaffirmed during a press briefing by Senegalese Minister of Foreign Affairs and Senegalese Expatriates Amadou Ba, after his talks with Foreign Minister Nasser Bourita.

"I would like to reiterate, in this regard, the strong and unwavering support of the Republic of Senegal for the Moroccan identity of the Sahara, a position that Senegal has been defending for a long time," said the Senegalese official, reaffirming the support of his country to the UN role to find a solution to this issue.

On this occasion, Bourita thanked the minister and the Senegalese diplomacy which has always been by the side of Morocco in its fight for territorial integrity, adding that the Kingdom will always be grateful for the strong and active role of this position, expressed repeatedly in regional and international meetings.

Amadou Ba is on a two-day working and friendship visit to Morocco, the first of its kind since his appointment last April.
