Skhirat: 1st Meeting of INDH Steering Committee Under 3rd Phase of Initiative

The steering committee of the National Initiative for Human Development (INDH), chaired by minister delegate for the Interior Noureddine Boutayeb, held, on Wednesday in Skhirat, its first meeting within the framework of the third phase of the initiative (2019-2023).

The steering committee has reviewed the results of the first year of INDH's third phase, launched by HM King Mohammed VI, on September 19, 2018, Wali in charge of the INDH national coordination Mohamed Dardouri said in a statement to the press.

Dardouri also pointed out that the steering committee, made up of all the ministerial departments involved in the INDH, also examined all the ways and means of implementing this third phase as well as future action plans.

For his part, Minister of National Education, Vocational Training, Higher Education and Scientific Research Said Amzazi noted that the INDH is "a key partner" in the promotion and development of primary education, especially in rural areas.

The national program of generalization of a quality preschool, launched by the ministry in the previous year, in accordance with the High Royal Instructions giving special attention to early childhood, is an ambitious program which ensured schooling for more than 100,000 children in 2018 and which is aimed at providing preschool education for another 120,000 starting next year, he added.

For his part, Health Minister Anass Doukkali said that the third phase of the INDH will focus on the human development of future generations, noting that the contribution of his department consists mainly of supporting INDH programs related to health, maternal and child nutrition and community health by building the capacity of civil society actors, and reducing mortality and the growth deficit in children, with a view to ensuring their integration into society.

The meeting of the INDH steering committee is held ahead of the first National Conference on Human Development, organized under the High Patronage of HM King Mohammed VI under the theme: "Developing early childhood, a commitment to the future".

This landmark event is organized as part of the implementation of the Royal Directives aiming to consolidate the achievements of the INDH phases I and II, through the adoption of a renewed approach which mainly targets human capital and the social and economic integration of young Moroccans.

The third phase of the INDH, totaling 8 billion dirhams, aims to build on the accomplishments of the previous phase by refocusing its programs and actions on the promotion of human capital, including youth and vulnerable groups.
