Skhirate's inter-Libyan dialogue: Rival parties resume consultation with UN special representative

UN secretary general's special representative for Libya, Bernardino Leon, resumed on Monday evening in the Moroccan Atlantic sea resort of Skhirate consultation with rival parties to reach a political agreement to the crisis in Libya and form a national union government.

Leon had said last September "we now have a final text", calling on parties to react to the text with a "yes or no" but not with more talks and amendments.

He further explained that each party "will find (in the draft agreement) elements likely not to satisfy them.

The UN envoy who had hoped that parties will reach an agreement before October 1st, urged for starting to implement the agreement before October 20 as the World body and the international community don't want a "political vacuum", but institutions and a legitimate parliament to restore unity in Libya.

Turning down the agreement will plunge the country into "the unknown" and "chaos", he warned.

Libya has been in chaos since Muammar Gaddafi's ouster in 2011.
