Tourist Arrivals in Morocco up 6% Late April
Nearly 3.6 million tourists visited Morocco between January and April 2019, that is an increase of 6% compared to the same period a year earlier (+5.3% for foreign tourists and +7.8% for Moroccan expatriates), said the Tourism Observatory.
The main tourism markets witnessed an increase in arrivals during this period, particularly the Unites States (+ 14%), Italy (+ 13%), France (+ 9%), Spain (+ 9%), Germany (+ 8%), the Netherlands (+ 7%), Belgium (+ 5%) and the United Kingdom (+ 4%), the Observatory pointed out in its latest note on tourism statistics in Morocco.
The nights spent in classified hotels posted a rise of 6% at the end of April, said the same source, noting that the two tourist destinations of Marrakech and Agadir generated 58% of hotel nights.
These two destinations posted increases of 7%, said the Observatory, noting that Tangier also posted a good performance with + 10%.
