UN Appoints Morocco to Host 2018 Intergovernmental Conference on International Migration

The UNGA appointed on Sunday Morocco to host the intergovernmental conference on international migration in 2018, during which the global compact for safe, orderly and regular migration will be adopted.

The UNGA adopted unanimously the resolution on this event which will be held on Dec. 10-11, 2018 in Morocco.

The conference will complete the world forum on migration and development, to be co-chaired by Morocco and Germany, and whose 11th summit will be held in Marrakech ahead of the intergovernmental conference on Dec. 5-7, 2018.

The Global Compact is to be a global agreement aimed at sharing responsibilities and at ensuring security, peace, dignity, protection and respect for the human rights of all migrants and refugees.
