Unlike Other Countries That Favored Their Interests, Morocco Has Played 'Exemplary' Role in Resolving Libyan Crisis (Official)

Morocco has played an "exemplary and positive" role in resolving the Libyan crisis unlike other countries that have favored their own interests to the detriment of Libya, said, Monday in Rabat, Head of Libya High Council of State, Khalid Al-Mishri.

"In this crisis, which has lasted too long, Morocco has played an exemplary and positive role unlike many other countries which have favored their own interests to the detriment of Libya," Al-Mishri told the press at the end of his talks with minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Nasser Bourita.

It is in this sense that Morocco's new invitation to bring together the points of view of the various parties comes into play.

In this regard, Al-Mishri noted that "we have never been so close to a consensus on many points of divergence", stressing that there is now a "clear willingness" to emerge from the Libyan crisis.

For his part, Bourita said that Morocco has a "clear and consistent" stance which consists in supporting Libya, the political process in this country and the dialogue between the various parties.

Thanks to the High instructions of HM King Mohammed VI, Morocco has worked to put all stakeholders in the best position to reach the Skhirat agreement, Bourita said, noting that this agreement, which constitutes a common basis for all Libyans, could be adapted, if necessary, to current circumstances.

Bourita also called on all Libyan parties to show wisdom and to ensure that the interests of the Libyan people and Libya prevail over all other considerations, noting that Libyans and all Libya's friendly countries need a stable Libya able to play its key role within the Arab Maghreb Union (AMU), Africa and the Arab world.
