Upper House Speaker Sheds Light on Human Rights Abuses in Tindouf Camps

 Speaker of the House of Advisors, Hakim Benchamach, shed light, here Monday, on the human rights abuses committed against the people held against their will in Tindouf camps, southwestern Algeria.

   Benchamach was speaking at the 135th Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), which focuses on the "role of Parliament to face human rights abuses that could lead to conflict".

   Regarding this issue, he underlined the commitment of the parliamentary institution to protect human rights and prevent violations in accordance with the international treaty framework.

   In this respect, he said that the Moroccan Parliament is among the few legislative bodies which have opted for institutionalizing its relations with the entities entrusted with protecting human rights.
