FM calls in Prague for reinforced dialogue between Morocco and Czech Republic

Foreign minister Salaheddine Mezouar called, on Tuesday in Prague, for a reinforced dialogue between Morocco and the Czech Republic, two countries with a long history.

During a joint press conference with Czech counterpart Lubomir Zaoralek, the minister noted that the two countries are attached to the human values of peace, democracy and stability, a fact that will bring the two parties closer in a world rocked by turmoil.

Underlining that Morocco and the Czech Republic are celebrating this year the 56th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations, the minister noted that, during all these years, bilateral relations have never witnessed a single incident.

He also called for fostering economic and trade cooperation, adding that the two countries have economic potentials which should be used for the benefit of a fruitful economic partnership. Morocco is already in Africa, a promising continent, said Mezouar who invited the two countries' economic partners to undertake investment projects in Africa.

Answering a question on Morocco's stand on EU countries' idea to build in northern Africa centers to receive asylum seekers and refugees, the minister explained that Morocco, which rejects this alternative, had done a lot for immigration. He recalled, in this regard, Morocco's immigration policy which helped regularize the situation of over 20,000 sub-Saharans.

Mezouar had met earlier with speaker of the Czech senate Milan Stech and was granted an audience by president of the Czech Republic Milos Zeman.
