China Donates 'Gamma Knife' to Lalla Salma Foundation for Cancer Prevention and Treatment
Secretary general of the Lalla Salma Foundation for Cancer Prevention and Treatment Latifa El Abida and her counterpart from the China Friendship Foundation for Peace and Development inked, Wednesday in Beijing, a donation agreement for a "Gamma Knife", which is an advanced radiation treatment for adults and children with small to medium brain tumours, for the benefit of the Lalla Salma Foundation.
Gamma Knife is a leading stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS) platform, offering unparalleled accuracy in both the localization and radiation dose delivered to the targeted brain tissue.
The signing ceremony of this agreement, the first of its kind by the China Friendship Foundation for Peace and Development, took place at the headquarters of the Chinese People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries, initiator of the event, in the presence of the members of the Moroccan delegation accompanying El Abida, including Professor Said Ait Ben Ali and Mouna Khouchani, respectively head of the department of neurology at the Mohammed VI University Hospital Centre of Marrakech and head of oncology department.
On this occasion, Latifa El Abida welcomed the signing of this agreement, which is an additional motivation for the Lalla Salma Foundation to continue its efforts in fighting cancer.
She emphasized that since its inception in 2005, at the initiative of HRH Princess Lalla Salma, the Foundation has made the fight against cancer a priority in the Kingdom's health policy and has mobilized all resources necessary to this end, noting that the Foundation has succeeded in changing the public's perception of this disease and has given hope to cancer patients and their families/
