HRH Crown Prince Moulay El Hassan Chairs in Meknes Opening of 13th SIAM

HRH Crown Prince Moulay El Hassan chaired on Tuesday in Meknes the opening of the 13th edition of Morocco's International Agriculture Fair (SIAM 2018), held on April 24-29 under the High Patronage of HM King Mohammed VI.

At the beginning of the opening ceremony, Crown Prince Moulay El Hassan handed distinctive awards to nine farm producers.

Thus, His Royal Highness presented the geographical Indication "Azir (rosemary) Honey for the Oriental Region" to Hamzaoui Yahya, president of the association of the geographical Indication for the labelling of Azir Honey in Taourirt province (Oriental region), the geographical Indication "Daghmouss (Euphorbia resinifera) Honey Souss Massa” to Abdellah Aguenaou, president of the regional association of beekeepers of the Souss Massa Draa region, the geographical Indication “Draa Black Boustahmi Dates” to Lahcen Asmiress, president of the national Federation of date producers (Drâa-Tafilalet region), the geographical Indication “Ezznatia Chili Pepper” to Mohamed Rkhila, president of the agricultural cooperative Zenata (Casablanca-Settat region), the geographical Indication “Amezmiz Olive Oil” to Ahmed Bay, president of the Union of agricultural cooperatives Amezmiz Oils (Marrakech-Safi region).

HRH Crown Prince Moulay El Hassan also handed the geographical Indication “Lamtat Fez Olive Oil" to Mohamed El Bouchikhi, president of the economic interest group "Lamtat Fez" (Fez-Meknes region), the geographical Indication “Dir Beni Mellal Olive Oil” to Oueghad Abdessalam, president of the economic interest group “Dir Beni Mellal Oils” (Beni Mellal-Khenifra region), as well as the origin labelling “Kalaat Megouna Dades Rose Water” to Jalal Charaf, president of the Moroccan Inter professional Federation of aromatic flowers (Draa Tafilalet region), and the "Lamjaad Moroccan Black Olives" agricultural quality label to Houda Farah Guessouss, chairwoman of the Moroccan Federation of canned agricultural products industries (Casablanca-Settat region).

At the entrance of the Fair, His Royal Highness was greeted by Marjlijn Sonnema, deputy minister of Agriculture, Nature and Food of the Netherlands (guest of honor country), Stephane Travet, minister of Agriculture and Food of France, Eyebe Ayissi Henri, minister of Agriculture and Rural Development of Cameroon, Honore Feizoure, minister of Agriculture and Rural Development of the Central African Republic, Youssoufa Yerima Mandjo, minister of Livestock and Animal Health of the Central African Republic, Mamadou Sangafowa Coulibaly, minister of Agriculture and Rural Development of Côte d'Ivoire, and by Kobenan Kouassi Adjoumani, minister of Animal and Fisheries Resources of Côte d'Ivoire.

HRH Crown Prince Moulay El Hassan was also greeted by Owusu Afriyoe Akoto, minister of Food and Agriculture of Ghana, Pamela Charette, minister of Fisheries and Agriculture of the Seychelles, Nicolas Dos Santos, minister of Agriculture, Forest and Livestock of Guinea Bissau, Elsadig Fadlalla Sbah Elkhir Mohamed, minister of State to the minister of Agriculture and Forests of Sudan, Jalal Eddine Rabeh Ahmed Bachir, minister of State at the ministry of Animal Resources of Sudan, Patricia Zodi Carlie, deputy minister to the minister of Agriculture and Livestock of Gabon, as well as by Ali Bety, minister, high commissioner for the 3N Initiative (Nigerians Nourishing Nigerians) of Niger.

Subsequently, HRH Crown Prince Moulay El Hassan visited the various poles of the Fair and heard explanations on the products on display at the poles “Regions”, “Moroccan Agriculture Village”, “Sponsors”, “Machinery”, ”Local Products”, “Livestock”, 'Provendiers”, “International”, “Agro-supplies”, “Agricultural Products” and “Nature”.

Upon his arrival at the Fair, HRH Crown Prince Moulay El Hassan had reviewed a detachment of the Royal Guard that made the honors, before being greeted by the minister of Agriculture, Fisheries, Rural Development, Waters and Forests, the secretary of State for Rural Development, Waters and Forests, the Wali of the Fez-Meknes region, the president of the regional council, the governor of Meknes prefecture, elected officials and representatives of the civil and military authorities of the prefecture, as well as by several high-ranking personalities.
