HRH Prince Moulay Rachid Chairs Inauguration Ceremony of 'Climate Train' Exhibition

HRH Prince Moulay Rachid chaired, on Thursday at the Rabat-Agdal train station, the inauguration ceremony of the "Climate Train" exhibition, as part of the action plan by the National railway office (ONCF) to prepare for the COP22, slated on Nov. 7-18 in Marrakech.

On this occasion, His Royal Highness visited the compartments of the "Climate Train", which provides an intelligent and interactive presentation on multimedia mediums for disseminating information on climate phenomena, and was given details on this exhibition, held by ONCF under the patronage of HM King Mohammed VI.

The Climate Train, which will stop over (Oct.20-Nov. 18) in 12 Moroccan cities: Casablanca, Rabat, Kenitra, Meknes, Fez, Taza, Oujda, Nador, Tangier, Khouribga, Safi and Marrakech (terminus station), will be open to the public during the 11-day COP22.

Initiated by the ONCF in partnership with a group of Moroccan and foreign scientists, and with the contribution of the national weather services, this initiative seeks to raise awareness, give information and open a debate on climate all over the Moroccan territory. It will be also an occasion to present the aspects and prospects of sustainable mobility as part of the COP22.

The Climate Train, which got the COP22 official label in June 2016, is a traveling exhibition open to the public especially schoolchildren. It is an educational and entertaining event on the causes and impact of climate change notably in Africa and Morocco.

The eight-compartment train includes a scientific exhibition, an area "village-innovation-partners", a conference zone and a reception area.

Upon his arrival at the Rabat-Agdal train station, HRH Prince Moulay Rachid reviewed a detachment of the auxiliary forces who paid the honors and was greeted mainly by Hakima El Haite, minister delegate for the environment and special envoy for COP22 mobilization, Mohamed Rabie Khlie, ONCF director general and Nizar Baraka, chairman of COP22 scientific committee.
