HM the King Approves Four New Appointments in Hassan II Academy of Science and Technology

HM King Mohammed VI approved four new appointments in the Hassan II Academy of Science and Technology, the scientific body announced on Wednesday.

They are: an associate member, Pr. Alan Jay Heeger, a resident member, Pr. Abdeljabbar El Manira, and two corresponding members, Professors Abdeslem El Khamlichi and Ali Benomar, said the Hassan II Academy of Science and Technology in a statement.

Pr. Alan Jay Heeger is an American national who has won the Nobel Prize in chemistry in 2000. He is a physicist, a chemist and an engineer. He taught at the University of Pennsylvania and the University of California in Santa Barbara.

Pr. Abdeljabbar El Manira has been a corresponding member of the Hassan II Academy of Science and Technology since 2013. He is also a member of the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences and sits in the editing board of six prestigious scientific magazines.

Pr. El Khamlichi is a researcher and lecturer in neurosurgery. He chairs the Hassan II Foundation for Nervous System Diseases and manages the Rabat International Reference Centre for training African neurosurgeons.

As for Pr. Benomar, he is a researcher and lecturer in neurosurgery at the Rabat faculty of medicine and pharmacy. He is a member of the American Association for the advancement of science and sits in the training committee of the World Federation of Neurology.
