HM the King, Commander of the Faithful, Chairs in Rabat Religious Ceremony to Commemorate Laylat Al Qadr

HM King Mohammed VI, Commander of the Faithful, accompanied by HRH Crown Prince Moulay El Hassan, HRH Prince Moulay Rachid and HH Prince Moulay Islamil, chaired, Saturday at the Hassan Mosque in Rabat, a religious ceremony to commemorate Laylat Al Qadr (26th day of Ramadan).

After Al Isha and Tarawih prayers, Koran verses were read out by Aya Mansour (aged 12, from city of Berrechid), recipient of the Mohammed VI National Prize for Holy Koran memorization, declamation and psalmody. HM the King was afterwards greeted by the young Koran reader to whom he handed the prize.

Afterwards, Senegalese professor and scholar Amadou Tidiany Diallo gave a speech before the Sovereign on behalf of Ulema who took part in the religious lectures of the holy month of Ramadan 1440, in which he expressed his thanks and gratitude to HM the King, Commender of the Faithful, for the hospitality extended to them during their stay in the Kingdom.

He also lauded the various achievements during the reign of HM King Mohammed VI in the areas of religion, education and training as well as the numerous initiatives undertaken by the Sovereign to fight radicalism and to promote the lofty values of Islam.

The ceremony was marked by the closing of Sahih Al Boukhari by Lahcen Al Hussein Mefrah, Khatib at the Arridouan Mosque in Mohammedia and former president of the city's Ulema local council, after reading "Hadith Al Khatm" by religious scholar Mohamed Ziani, from the Mohammed VI Institute for Training of Imams, Morchidin and Morchidate.

The Sovereign, then, awarded the Mohammed VI "Ahl Al-Qurâan" and "Ahl Al-Hadith" Prizes respectively to Ibrahim El Ouafi from the city of Ait Melloul and El Mustapha Zamhani from the city of Khenifra.

HM the King, Commander of the Faithful, also gave the Mohammed VI Prize for Koranic Schools in its three categories to Mohamed El Amraoui from Fez (Learning Methodology Prize), Mohamed El Hafidi from the city of Kenitra (Performance Award) and Mohamed El Hanafi from the city of Taroudante (Management Award).

The Sovereign granted the Mohammed VI Award for Adhan and Tahlil, created following the instructions of His Majesty the King, Commander of the Faithful, in its two categories respectively to Abdallah Siouti from the city of Laayoune (Prize of excellence) and Mohamed Boukantar from Marrakech (Honorary Award).

The event was attended mainly by Head of government, speakers of the two houses of parliament, HM the King's advisors, cabinet members, representatives of diplomatic corps of Islamic countries accredited to Morocco and high-ranking officers from the general staff of the Royal Armed Forces.
