HM the King, Commander of the Faithful, Chairs Second Religious Lecture of Ramadan
HM King Mohammed VI, Commander of the Faithful, accompanied by HRH Crown Prince Moulay El Hassan, HRH Prince Moulay Rachid and HH Prince Moulay Ismail, chaired on Tuesday at the Royal Palace in Rabat the second religious lecture of the holy month of Ramadan.
The lecture was given by Dikr Arrahmane, university professor and director of the Islamic Cultural Center in New Delhi, on the theme "Education on Responsibility", drawing on the Quranic verse "And We had certainly given Luqman wisdom [and said], "Be grateful to Allah." And whoever is grateful is grateful for [the benefit of] himself. And whoever denies [His favor] - then indeed, Allah is Free of need and Praiseworthy. (Surat Luqman).
The lecturer touched on the theme of education in Islam within the framework of a set of signs, noting that the Holy Quran includes several stories and educational guidance full of compassion for the Man whom God has honoured.
The Quran tells us about the advice given by Luqman al-Hakim to his son, as he told him to thank, obey and believe in God alone, pray, enjoin what is right and avoid what is wrong, he said, adding that these are general principles that concern the relationship with God, the relationship with oneself and the relationship with people.
There is no worship of the one God without freedom and no freedom without responsibility, the lecturer said, while underlining the importance of teaching this to children particularly at these times.
Luqman instructed his son to broadcast his advice to people and told him to show patience and avoid any misconduct, he added.
He pointed out that wisdom requires knowledge and persuasion, while trying to avoid dogmatism and coercion.
At the beginning of his lecture, the director of the Islamic Cultural Center in New Delhi expressed the hope that the religious lectures, which are translated into English, French, Spanish and Russian, would be translated into Urdu, which is a language spoken by nearly half a billion Muslims in India.
At the end of the lecture, HM the King was greeted by several foreign religious figures.
